Carbs have always been considered as an adversary for weight loss. And weight watchers and body builders all across the world have been seen to shun carbohydrates when they are in a desperate need to shed weight fast and quick. True, but before we embark on a discussion on how to lose weight with no carbs, we must attempt to understand what a no carb diet means in the first place.
A very close contender to its next door neighbor, low carb diet, a no carb diet unlike the latter does not attempt to limit the carb intake. Rather, it removes every trace of carbohydrate from the meal plans that are followed throughout the day. Ketogenic in essence, it uses fat as the primary source of energy and protein, as the secondary. This diet is devised to assist the body in burning fat as a fuel for energy.
Carbohydrates contain complex sugars that are mainly found in plant based foods like fruits and veggies and also bread and pasta. So naturally a no carb diet says no to all these, and can only work for you if you are a non-vegetarian. This is a meat-based diet with high amounts of fat/protein and must not be followed without your doctor’s advice. This diet is not recommended for pregnant women, lactating mothers, elderly people, and individuals who have cardiovascular and kidney diseases.
You can definitely lose weight with no carbs. With a high protein diet, you don’t need to ask yourself how to lose stubborn belly fat anymore and finally realize your objective of how to have a flat stomach. There are definite steps to follow if you really want to lose weight with a no-carb diet-
- Consult your doctor before you start on a no-carb diet.
- Learn about carbs and cut them back from your meal plans. Veggies, fruits, grains, sugar, dairy products, legumes, alcohol – no place for any of these.
- Stock up your refrigerator with protein/fat choices like fish, meat (preferably lean), poultry, and eggs. Use butter or regular cooking oil for rustling up your meals.
- Since you are cutting down on veggies and fruit fibers, constipation can be a natural outcome. Drink plenty of water to prevent that.
- If you can’t avoid dining out, order for dishes like grilled chicken or chicken breast roast in such occasions. Skip the rest. Cheating on your menu plan, even once, is going to hamper the ketosis process and make you put on weight.

- This diet is fit for short-term dieting
- Even if this diet does not restrict portion sizes, do not overindulge. Eat when hungry and stop when you are full.
